Hello, I’m Georgina Perez ~ an educator, policy leader, and Catholic school turnaround principal committed to building strong systems, instructional excellence, and faith-centered learning communities.

My journey began in the classroom, where I spent more than a decade teaching English Language Arts in Ysleta ISD. As a teacher, mentor, and department chair, I learned that great schools are built not just on strong curriculum, but on relationships, equity, and clear systems that help every student thrive.

That conviction led me into public service. From 2017 to 2022, I served on the Texas State Board of Education, where I helped shape curriculum and policy for more than 5.4 million students. In that role, I worked to expand access and opportunity by authoring the state’s Long-Range Plan for Public Education, leading curriculum revisions, and spearheading the creation of Texas’ first ethnic studies courses as well as its most comprehensive dual-language framework. At the same time, I founded and directed education equity initiatives that distributed more than $1 million in scholarships and teacher grants to support students and educators in west Texas.

In 2024, I accepted a one-year appointment as Principal of a Catholic school system serving eight rural parishes. My mission was clear: bring all teachers into compliance with diocesan and state credentialing requirements, update policies and systems, secure accreditation, and prepare the school for long-term stability under a permanent leader. In less than a year, we achieved full WCEA accreditation, launched a three-year growth plan, modernized financial and operational systems, and raised nearly $100,000 through grants and partnerships. Just as importantly, I mentor the school’s current leadership, helping develop state-aligned scopes and sequences for all content areas and assessments—ensuring continuity of leadership and a school culture firmly rooted in Catholic virtues.

These experiences have taught me that meaningful change is never easy... but with courage, integrity, and clarity of mission, schools can be transformed. Systems can be strengthened, teachers empowered, and students given the faith-filled foundation they deserve.

That is why I founded 5 Loaves Consulting ~ to walk alongside Catholic, Christian, and community schools that are ready to strengthen both their faith identity and their operational excellence. My work is not just about policies or programs; it’s about sustainability, mission alignment, and growth that lasts.
